A stowaway managed to fly from the US to France without a ticket before being discovered on the flight.
The woman was caught onboard Delta Airlines flight 264 from New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on Tuesday.
A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) spokesperson said she was able to bypass two “identity verification and boarding status stations” in New York “and boarded the aircraft”.
They added she had completed a full security screening before getting on the plane.
It is unclear how the woman was able to do so. Authorities said to be at a departure gate, a person must have cleared the security checkpoint.
But a source told Sky’s US partner network NBC News that upon landing in Paris, the stowaway was removed from the aircraft by police officers.
Delta Air Lines said in a statement: “Nothing is of greater importance than matters of safety and security.
“That’s why Delta is conducting an exhaustive investigation of what may have occurred and will work collaboratively with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement to that end.
